In the years after Gaia retired her heirs ruled. Sitara ruled as Queen and Cassiopeia served as protector. Carina served besides them but was never given a real role. Her sisters feared her dark magic and her ambition. They were convinced that if given the chance Carina would overthrow them to rule alone.
For the longest time, it seemed like Carina would let it be. Her ambition diminished and she distanced herself from the throne. Untill one day, something in her switched. It happened so quickly some claim she was possesed by something else entirely.
She wanted to take over the country, but in order to do that she needed to amplify her powers in order to be able to take on her sisters. She found three people loyal to her cause and named them her disciples. Their exsistence would amplify her magic, making her the strongest source. The first was a dark fairy, who had been cast out by her peers. The second was a powerful teacher of dark magic, who had been outlawed for doing her job. No one ever discovered who the third was.
With her amplified powers she was able to set her plan in motion. She wanted to cast a curse that would take all autonomy from the people of Fundamia, so she could then instate herself as rightful Queen. She nearly managed to get it done, but Sitara and Cassiopeia caught wind of it before she did. The fight that followed was intense, but even with amplified powers Carina could not take them both on on her own.
She was imprisoned and her sisters tried to find her disciples. When they couldn’t, they decided to name disciples of their own so that all the sources would be equally powerful again. They asked Queen Cordelia to do the same thing, just in case. She reluctantly agreed but named only one.
In order to protect Fundamia, Carina was executed. But before she died she promised that in 2000 years the darkness would rise again…
